Till today his wealth is declared as indescribable! Emperor Musa literally put Mali on the map, the Catalan Atlas map to be precise from 1375. He’s the African king sitting on a golden throne on top of Timbuktu, holding a piece of gold in his hand.
It wasn’t only about the money for the Emperor, he was heavily vested in education. In the 1300s he brought Timbuktu back to life and built universities schooling over 25,000 students and one of the largest libraries in the world with over a million manuscripts. Many masters in law, astronomy and medicine were taught there.
